As a long-time member of the Whidbey Weavers Guild I am proud to announce UNCOMMON THREADS, our 13th annual Sale.
The entire guild joins in the effort to present an abundance of textile delights in a crescendo of hues and textures. We take great pride in the artful display of all the artists' work and are eager to share this year's crop of fiber inspirations with you, our friends and neighbors.
WELCOME! Come one, come all. We're so happy to see you again.

One of my pieces was accepted for the juried "Wearable Art of Shibori" Exhibition at the 10th ISS (International Shibori Symposium) to be held Nov. 15-20, 2016. The exhibition takes place at the Centro de las Artes de San Agustin, Etla, Oaxaca, Mexico and will run from 15 Nov. 2016 through 8 Jan. 2017. https://10iss.org/about/program/exhibitions
The accepted piece is a transparent, quilted rectangle (72"x20") made of one layer of shibori dyed and color discharged silk organza and one layer of white polyester with natural, dried ginkgo leaves sandwiched between the two fabrics with metallic thread stitchery. The information submitted for the piece describes the inspiration and process:
- Artist Statement:
"Shroud for a Memory" was created within a few days, almost entirely following intuition, with very little left-brain interference . The name “Shroud for a Memory” suggested itself persistently during the process and I accepted it without a clue what the name pertained to until at the end of the week I became aware through several different channels that three very important people in my life had left this earthly realm. The piece represents my precognitive memory and acknowledgment of their death.
